Sparrow Swap

During the 2018 season the Shenandoah Audubon/Blandy Bluebird Trail participated in Sparrow Swap, a citizen science project conducted by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus) Shenandoah Valley - Winter flocks of Evening Grosbeaks rarely migrate as far south as Virginia. This winter has seen several flocks in the valley. To attract Evening Grosbeaks to your feeders, offer them sunflower seeds on a platform or feeder upon which a large bird can perch.
